The street sweepers in Kalininsky district of St. Petersburg found a crocodile inside the dumpster. As the experts of Leningradsky Zoo explained later, judging by size, the hatchling is no older than three days.
This is a Nile crocodile: the largest one found in Africa and the second largest in the world. Due to his size and strength is known as a man-eater crocodile. Zoologists are surprised that the reptile was not killed by St. Petersburg's cold weather. In captivity they are kept at a temperature not lower than 25 degrees. For now the crocodile is given a shelter in director's office in Zhilkomservis # 2 of Kalininsky district, but soon it will be necessary to look for a new home since these reptiles grow to a length of four meters.
The employees of Rehabilitation Center for Wild Animals in the village of Rappolovo have already given their response. Most likely, this crocodile was born in St. Petersburg in the incubator. Experts have suggested that someone just confused the crocodile and ostrich eggs.
