The new large-scale exhibition project of the Tretyakov Gallery is dedicated to Alexander Golovin (1863-1930), a great representative of the Silver Age.
It is timed to the 150th anniversary since the artist’s birth. For the first time the many-sided heritage of the painter, graphic artist, stage designer, and decorative art master is presented in all its variety: paintings, stage costumes, sketches and theatrical sceneries.
Golovin’s creativity brings together the main iconographic and stylistic peculiarities of symbolism and modernism. The exposition plunges the visitors into the special atmosphere of the Silver Age.
The Tretyakov Gallery displays Golovin’s numerous sketches for stage performances, stage costumes, and easel paintings and actors’ portraits.
The exhibition runs from March 28 to August 24 in the Tretyakov Gallery in Krymsky Val (Oktyabrskaya Metro Station).
