Dismantle of the Shukhov Tower, which Moscow has officially given up on, will cause a large-scale protest of city defenders.
Officials have been recently devising various unconvincing reasons for dismantling this unique engineering monument and then moving it to another place.
The city of Samara has already agreed to take the monumental Shukhov Tower. However, dismantling of this cultural heritage site may lead to its overall loss.
Barbarous destruction is opposed by locals, city defenders, architects, and experts, as well as leading world organizations, which have signed and sent a letter to RF president Putin.
The coalition In Defense of Moscow and Frondeur TV are ready to announce international fund raising for the tower restoration. Such a project was started a year ago: the idea is to build a translucent protective case, in which the tower will gradually be restored. However, the project was not supported at the governmental level.
City defenders assume that the problem is not so much about the tower, but rather the land plot that it takes. The world famous monument needs to be restored right on its place in Shabolovka, they state.
