Burials of ancient priestesses have been found by local archeologists in Azov town of the Rostov Region.
The unique find dates back to the first century AC, when the area of modern Azov was inhabited by the ancient Maeotae tribe. Various figurines, mirrors and other ritual subjects are indicative of the status of the buried women.
Scientists assume that the burial will help them to find out more about the ancient tribe that has so much controversy and unresolved questions about it.
