The Tretyakov Gallery will celebrate the anniversary of the famous sculptor Vera Mukhina (1889–1953) with an exposition of her works.
It will be opened on April 16 in the Tretyakov Gallery at Krymsky Val.
Vera Mukhina had an outstanding gift of a monumental sculptor; unfortunately, lots of her projects remained unfulfilled. The visitors will see composition variations of her works that remained unperformed or underwent substantial changes, as well as separate sculptures for them.
The Tretyakov Gallery will exhibit the composition World (1953), which has not been displayed for a long time.
The author of the well-known sculpture The Worker and Collective Farm Woman that represented the USSR at the World Fair in Paris in 1937, Vera Mukhina was one of the main sculptors in the Soviet Union. She is also considered to be the author of another Soviet symbol — the faceted glass. The works by the holder of five Stalin awards can always be recognized by mighty forms and monumental sizes.
The exhibition will be held till January 11, 2015.
