Phanagoria Memorial Estate to Appear in Kuban

The state historical and archaeological memorial estate Phanagoria will be founded in the Krasnodar Territory


      
The reserve will appear on the coast of the Gulf of Taman.

      The new project is aimed at providing preservation, research and attractivation of the archaeological heritage in the lands of the Krasnodar Territory, as well as exhibiting artifacts discovered in the course of archaeological works. Besides, the archaeological memorial estate in the south of Russia will create additional conditions for attracting tourists.

      The unique city state of Phanagoria was founded about 540 BC. It was located on the coast of the Gulf of Taman, between the present-day settlements of Sennoi and Primorsky of the Temryuk District of the Krasnodar Territory. According to research studies, the city existed for about 15 centuries. Today Phanagoria, one of the oldest towns found in the territory of Russia, is a monument of ancient archeology.
