It was finally decided to close for renovation Baumanskaya Metro station of Moscow subway’s Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line.
Baumanskaya was planned to be closed for reconstruction in late 2011 for building a second entrance hall with access from the east end.
In early 2012, there was held a tender for the best planning of the lobby. However, in spring of 2013, Moscow authorities declared that the project was removed from the metro construction program because of the high cost and Baumanskaya is just going to be repaired. This can already happen at the end of 2014. The station is likely to be closed for a year.
Authorities will elaborate a compensatory scheme of passenger transportation services for a time of the Baumanskaya renovation, using tram routes as well. For this purpose they will analyze carrying capacities of land transport and the metro in the area of temporary closed station.
