The Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said at the daily briefing of the capital government that all bicycle tracks infrastructure in the city will be set right by May 1. In addition, it is planned to increase the number of stations for bike rental in 2014, as “Moscow 24” reported.
The Deputy Mayor for Transport Maxim Liksutov, in his turn, stated that the number of bicycles on bike rental stations will grow five-fold – up to 2.5 thousand units - this year. Bicycles will be given a new design: they will become dark green and silver (they were red before). They will have hand brakes, extra lights, improved gear shifting systems and comfortable adjustment of seat height.
Liksutov also noted that about 80 stations of bike rental worked in Moscow in 2013, this year 150 new stations will be opened. The most popular routes are currently served by 40 stations. The Deputy Mayor for Transport recalled that new road signs and fines for cyclists have been introduced this year. Traffic violations will cause a fine of 800 rubles, driving in the state of intoxication will cost up to 1.5 thousand rubles.
