The Central Museum of Russian Railway Transport in St. Petersburg opens the exhibition Baikal-Amur Mainline: 40 Years Since Construction Started.
The exhibition presents a great number of photos taken by participants of the BAM construction works, as well as natural objects, documents, badges, medals, and souvenirs. The highlight of the exposition is an interactive map of the Baikal Amur Mainline with marks of the Trans-Siberian Railway, administrative division, mineral deposits and locations of tunnels.
The Central Museum of Russian Railway Transport is one of the first-ever technical museums in the world. It got its first exhibits in 1813. Presently the museum funds keep more than 50 thousand depository items.
