Moscow House of Photography Exhibits Art by Author of Vogue Covers

The Moscow House of Photography holds an exhibition of the fashion photographer Erwin Blumenfeld.

Creativity by one of the founders of modern fashion industry is presented in progression: from silly childish collages of the 1910s to photos for covers of the Vogue magazine in the 1960s.

It is known that Blumenfeld photographed well dressed girls for Vogue, but only undressed ones for himself. The nude genre pictures, quite open-breasted they are, but far from vulgar, are displayed separately at the exhibition.

Special place in his creativity is taken by anti-Nazi subject. Being born and brought up in the family of German Jews in Germany, the photographer couldn’t but express in his works his attitude to Hitler and his followers.

Erwin Blumenfeld got such universal acclaim that celebrities themselves asked him for photo shoots. The visitors will see Audrey Hepburn in a mirror corridor, Marlene Dietrich wrapped up in furs and Lisa Fonssagrives in a fluttering dress on the Eiffel Tower.

The exhibition will run till the middle of May in the Moscow House of Photography.
