Moscow Zoo Reconstruction
5.05.2014 22:15
Moscow Zoo Reconstruction

Reconstruction of "old" territory of the Moscow Zoo started on May 1. Renovation implies renewal of the ponds, lighting, plumbing and pedestrian navigation.

Besides that, after reconstruction it will be possible to sit on the lawns. Also, an exit will open next to the entrance, so that visitors do not bump into each other.

In time of repair, visitors should pass immediately into new territory from Garden Ring side or through the entrance on Bolshaya Gruzinskaya Street. In old area there will be made another entrance: from the side of Zoologicheskaya Lane and two exits.

In autumn construction of a new zoo entrance from Barrikadnaya metro station will start. This will be a two-story glass building with souvenir shops, offices and turnstiles on the ground floor and with entrance to the territory on the second floor. "Old" and "new" parts of the metropolitan zoo will be connected with another footbridge. The new facility will represent a single span pedestrian bridge with supports in the form of two towers and with 1.1-m fence. According to the engineers' plan, it will increase throughput and will put in order the visitor flows in "old" and "new" areas of the zoo.
