Scientists from Archeology and Ethnography Institute of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science suggest establishing archaeological emergency in Russia.
The institute’s deputy director Academician Vyacheslav Molodin emphasized that such services proved to be very good in Germany, Japan, and the USA. They work fast on construction sites and carry out obligatory archaeological monitoring prior to construction of any building.
“Before starting construction the ground layers are examined to check if there are any archaeological monuments”, - the academician said. He gave an example of one case when builders of a new residential area on the Yinya River in city came across an ancient site. Archeologists found traces of Irmens’ Culture there, in particular, various vessels. The archeologists were very surprised because usually whole vessels remain intact in burial grounds. Vyacheslav Molodin emphasized that sometimes experts rescue invaluable artifacts literally from under tractors’ caterpillars. So, to make the number of such cases as little as possible, archaeological emergency is required.
