Traffic Restrictions For Trucks In Moscow

Starting September 1, 2014 traffic restrictions for trucks heavier than 2.5 tons will be imposed on several Moscow streets, like it has already been done in other major world cities, the deputy head of the Moscow Department for Transportation and Road Infrastructure Development Alina Bisembayeva explained.

EAO frame will include about 86 streets, but by the early 2016 it will cover the whole Moscow. Violators will be fined 5000 rubles. The deputy head of the department added that in July on the central Moscow streets there will be created 15 lots for loading and unloading trucks. The necessity for this stems from the fact that the trucks entering downtown city cause inconvenience to car traffic.
