A project of the Manchester International Festival will be shown at the Beat Film Festival in Moscow.
The festival of new documentaries about music will run from May 27 to June 8.
The audiovisual show Manchester of the 1980s will take place on Saturday, May 31 in the yard of the Media, Design and Architecture Institute Strelka.
The project Manchester from A to Z was conceived by the Manchester International Festival as a visual music anthology from the 1970s to the 2000s. One part of the project will be reproduced at the Moscow tour. It is dedicated to Manchester of the 1980s, when Joy Division turned into New Order, The Smiths released its first album and Factory Records rattled with might and main.
Altogether the main program of the Beat Film Festival consists of 10 films. Thus, the festival guests will see movies about the permanent secretary of The Beatles, as well as the bands Depeche Mode, The National, The Prodigy, Auktion and the singers Alice Cooper, Moby, and Nick Cave.
