Ovechkin Could Be Out of Worlds Due to Leg Injury

Alex Ovechkin might miss the knockout stage of the World Championship held in the capital of Belarus, Minsk, after a painful collision with Germany’s Marcus Kink.

      Washington Capitals star injured his knee and was taken to hospital for an examination. The gravity of the injury is unknown and the forward refused to comment.

      Russia routed Germany 3-0 and earned 15 points out of 15 in five matches, topping the table in Group B.

      Evgeny Malkin is set to join the national team after his Pittsburgh Penguins were forced out of the Stanley Cup.

      The worlds are seen as Russia’s chance to compensative for the bitter defeat at the Olympic Games in Sochi.
