Russia wins the worlds by routing old rivals Finland 5-2 in a tense match without their coach. You can watch the video here.

The goals were scored by Sergey Shirokov, Alex Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin, Denis Zaripov and Viktor Tikhonov.

Earlier, Russia knocked out Sweden 3-1 and France 3-0. Russia won all 10 matches at the championship held in the capital of Belarus, Minsk.

Evgeny Malkin joined the national team after his Pittsburgh Penguins were forced out of the Stanley Cup.

The worlds are seen as Russia’s chance to compensate for the bitter defeat at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.
