The New Manege in Moscow will open an exhibition of the artist Ivan Akimov (1957–2011) on May 28.
This unconventional master’s creativity will be for the first time presented to general public in all its diversity.
Ivan Akimov was an enigmatic personality, whose creations harbor a number of secrets, which were carefully preserved by the artist throughout his life. His works, among them paintings and drawings, art objects and graphic art have been accumulators and exponents of his continuous creative process of reconsideration of the world in all of life aspects.
The stalkers that will guide visitors around the artistic and biographic sections of the exposition will be green cockroaches. “We all have rats in the attic. Mine are green cockroaches that reach out for everything bright …” – Ivan Akimov used to say.
The exhibition under the title Afterlife displaying about two hundred works of the artist will run till June 22.
