Speleologists have found a cave which is, probably, the biggest one in the Chelyabinsk Region.
The huge cave is 2.5 kilometers long.
It was found by the well-known scientist Vladimir Yurin near Krasnoselskoye Village in the Uvelsky District. The cave explorer is sure that the cave is actually even bigger than they manage to establish. It is an enormous underground system.
It is the location of this cave that makes it unique: it is situated on a flat site, instead of mountainous area. The Uvelsky District is one of the most promising areas of the Urals for archeologists, historians, and cave explorers. It has about a hundred caves, which have not been explored yet. For example, the Kopeisko-Zauralskaya Cave is the only Russian cave, where iron figurines of a man were found.
Altogether the Chelyabinsk Region has several thousand caves. The most famous of them is Ignatyevskaya - one of the two caves in Russia that have preserved petroglyphic drawings of the early man. It is located on the bank of River Sim near the Serpiyevka Settlement and is a nature sanctuary and cultural monument of a global scale.
The Sikiyaz-Tamak Cave complex still harbouring a number of archaeological artifacts is of great natural and scientific value.
