The 10th season of Phanagoria archaeological expedition kicks off in the Krasnodar Territory in Taman Peninsula.

      This year more than 200 people will participate in the diggings.

      Integrated exploration will be carried out till September. The archeologists plan to penetrate the ancient site’s oldest layers dating back to the 6th -5th centuries B.C.  

      The works are conducted in the acropolis, east necropolis, under water and in the rural area of the Phanagoria site.

      Excavations in the necropolis area will be carried out on the place of the future state archaeological museum. The archeologists will also tap into the recently found ancient crypt built in classical times.
