Peter I Bust Unveiled in St. Petersburg Botanic Garden

Peter the Great Monument has been unveiled in Botanic Garden founded by the emperor.

The bronze bust was created by the sculptor Oleg Satin. The author of the pedestal depicting a tree growing from the ground is the architect Aleksandra Bocharova.

This is the 10th monument to Peter I in St. Petersburg.

It is remarkable that the monument to Peter I in the Botanic Garden was planned back in 1914 in honor of the 200th anniversary of the garden.

However, the expenses were cut down back then, and the idea of setting up the monument was revived only during the Botanic Garden reconstruction started a year ago.

On June 29 the garden will be open for free to all comers.
