The courses of studies for training specialists conducting tours through the Orthodox shrines and temples of Yugra opened in the library of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Khanty-Mansiysk on June 9. The courses are organized by the Khanty-Mansiysk Eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church jointly with the Office of Tourism of the Department of Natural Resources and Non-Oil Sector of the Economy of the Autonomous District supported by the Association of Yugra Guides.
There are 166 churches in Yugra now, including prayer houses and chapels. The Russia’s first floating lighthouse chapel consecrated by His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill was built in Khanty-Mansiysk at the confluence of the two great rivers Ob’ and Irtysh in 2013. The project has received all-Russian recognition, won the first place at the “Divo Rossii” (“The Wonder of Russia”) festival-contest attended by 43 regional projects. A lot of attention is paid now to the development of the religious tourism of sightseeing and education direction.
