A New Law Bans Advertising On Paid TV Channels

The State Duma adopted a law banning advertising on paid TV channels from 2015.

The law provides a ban on advertising during the broadcast on the TV channels accessed on a paid basis. At that, this ban does not apply to mandatory public TV channels, as well as to the channels using the limited radio frequency resource by terrestrial broadcasting.

This law was adopted in order to regulate the economic conditions of activities of free and paid TV channels. Earlier the Economic Committee recommended to the State Duma to adopt three draft laws on advertising, which drew public attention.
