Scheduled helicopter tours were resumed in Kronotsky Reserve in Kamchatka after a month of silence, the press service of the reserve reports.

A month of silence in Kronotsky Reserve  is an annual event aimed at reducing disturbance factors during the animal reproductive period. This year, restrictions for tour groups to access the Geyser Valley, Death Valley and the calderas of Uzon volcano were introduced in June. Reducing the number of helicopter tours in this period was carried out to ensure the safety of tourists.

In June, the maximum number of bears concentrates around thermal areas and near grazing trails. Every year, Kronotsky reserve inspectors count in Geysernaya River valley up to two dozen bears. Animals are most dangerous to humans during the mating period. In addition, during the heavy snowmelt there are chances of avalanches and rock falls close to the excursion zones.
