Dugout of Peter I Found in Derbent

A mud hut of Peter I found in Derbent (Dagestan) will be restored for the 2000th anniversary of the city.

      The hut used to be a historical museum object long time ago, but was lost in the Soviet era. The excavation works will be started in September, and the house will be restored completely.

      Besides, Peter I Museum will be created in that area. The complex will include a monument to the emperor, a fountain, and an exhibition centre with objects of the times of Peter the Great. Reconstruction of the imperial house is planned to be completed in September, 2015. The museum area will cover over 1,5 thousand sq m.

      According to preliminary estimates, the total amount of investments will make about 100 million rubles. The dugout was discovered a few years ago. However, there was no opportunity to restore it earlier.
