Film saga about the legendary Russian and Soviet wrestler Ivan Poddubny has been released.
The leading role in the movie is played by the popular Russian actor Mikhail Porechenkov, who had trained hard and put on 12 kg muscle weight to meet the requirements. He was so much into the challenge that got several ribs broken in a sparring. However, even that injury did not stop him from filming. Alongside with Mikhail Porechenkov the film features Katerina Shpitsa, Roman Madyanov, Vladimir Ilyin, Alexander Mikhaylov and the French actor Denis Lavant.
The film Poddubny is not the first historical and sports biopic about Ivan Poddubny: a captivating and tragic film The Wrestler and the Clown was released in 1957.
The new work by the film director Gleb Orlov falls into three parts: the beginning of his career and love affair in Feodosiya, then his two well-known sparrings with artful Raoul Le Bouchez, and finally his tour in America and return home.
