For the first time Novgorod State Museum Reserve opened the Kremlin's Dvortsovaya Tower for visiting.
The tourists were invited to view “And the battle was cruel” installation. "Thousands of tourists have already passed through the ramparts of the Novgorod Kremlin on Novgorod defenders' way.
Now, the travel route was extended with the visit to Dvortsovaya Tower," the website of the Novgorod State Museum reports. First visitors explored three episodes of the military history of Novgorod. The exhibition included the 1170 battle of Novgorod and Suzdal, The Battle of Wesenberg of 1268, Lithuanian campaign of Novgorod Regiment of 1659-1660.
The installation "And the battle was cruel" in its original format tells visitors about the important role played by Novgorod in Russian military history of Medieval period up to the 17th century. Novgorod citizens defended their hometown, joined military campaigns, defending the interests of Russia on the way to the establishing of a united and strong state.
