World War I Museum Founded Near Petersburg

The largest museum of World War I has been opened near St. Petersburg.

The exposition located in the building of Pushkin Military Chamber is the biggest one dedicated to this historical period in Russia. Among the exhibits there is a replica of French fighter aircraft Nieuport 17 of the World War I and authentic Ford cars made in 1913, as well as the entire set of weaponry, uniforms and soldiers’ everyday items of those years.

It took three years to create the museum created.  The overall display area makes nearly one thousand square meters.

The building of Military Chamber was restored to meet the museum requirements. Specialists in museum management and historians used ancient photos for reconstruction of the building outlook.
