RFU President Nikolai Tolstykh commented the appeal of Football Federation of Ukraine to FIFA and UEFA with the request to impose sanctions against the Russian Union in connection with the participation of the Crimean clubs in the Russian Cup.
"After the Ukrainian side is actually disrupted the planned quadrilateral meeting with FIFA, UEFA, RFU and FFU, the appeal of the Football Federation of Ukraine to the international football authorities is a quite anticipated event. The Russian Football Union has repeatedly informed FIFA and UEFA on its position; held consultations and task meetings. We will continue this work in the future. We invite our Ukrainian colleagues to engage the constructive dialogue, at that following our long-standing historical good relations and interests for the development of football," ITAR-TASS cites Mr. Tolstykh.
On August 12 Crimean football clubs first played in the Russian Cup. SKCHF from Sevastopol beat "Tavria" from Simferopol (2: 0) and the Yalta's "Zhemchuzhina" lost to FC "Sochi" (0: 2).
