The Theatre Gallery has opened the anniversary exhibition Cherry Orchard. Sold!
It marks the 111th anniversary since Anton Chekhov completed work on the play Cherry Orchard.
According to the curators’ concept, the play is souped up with installation: the museum art director Vasilina Ovchinnikova has turned four halls of an old merchant mansion into a blossoming garden.
"But just one step – and the blooming trees will turn into hidden furniture covered over with bed sheets and drearily expecting the owners’ departure”. The living room becomes empty, with bare walls and splinters instead of leaves scattered on the floor. Neither garden, nor house… Is it the story of one family or any museum visitor?” – the museum press service points out.
The exhibition runs from August 15 till September 14.
