The government of the Altai Republic held a meeting of the Commission on the Emergency and Fire Safety, chaired by the acting head of the Altai Republic Alexander Berdnikov, the official web portal of the Republic of Altai reports.

      At the meeting it was decided to introduce the state of emergency on the territories of the Gorno-Altaisk and Maiminsky Districts on inter-municipal level of response. The Interdepartmental operational headquarters were deployed on the basis of Directorate General of EMERCOM of Russia in the Republic of Altai, the press service reports. According to the latest information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the recent heavy hail resulted with damaging of 64 social facilities (damaged roofs, broken windows), more than 3,130 houses, including 74 apartment buildings. In all more than 42, 000 square meters of the roofs were damaged and more than 1, 600 square meters of window glasses were broken. An alignment of forces and means numbering 111 persons and 37 vehicles was involved to assess damage and to eliminate the hail consequences.
