Torino 2006. Russian silver biathletes.

Yesterday Russian biathletes came second in the relay. Trainers of the team think that silver medal is an achievement, because it was impossible to beat the German team. Nikolay Kruglov told that he had a very small chance of catching up with German Michael Greis: Michael wanted to win gold in Turin very much. As well as everybody in the German team, which was in outstanding form before the start of the Olympic Games.
But apart from this triumph there was another reason to cheer up for Russian sports fans. Russian hockey team defeated their American colleagues (meaning not only that they all play hockey, but also taking into account that Russian team mostly consists of NHL players), 5:4. This wasnt an easy victory, especially for Russian goalkeeper, who was almost left face to face with the whole American hockey team. Our defense was as weak as ever, and if it wasnt for our sharp attacks we wouldnt have 5:4 by the end of the game. Of course, this game didnt really matter, because Russia and USA would have been on the second and third places respectfully in Group B no matter what. Tonight Russia is to face Canada in the first match of the play-off series. Other matches are between: Sweden and Switzerland, Finland and USA, Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Other winners of the 12th day of the XX Olympic Winter Games:
Bobsleigh, Women Competition: Germany: Sandra Kiriasis, Anja Schneiderheinze
Biathlon, Men's 4x7.5 km Relay: Germany: Ricco Gross, Michael Roesch, Sven Fischer, Michael Greis
Nordic Combined, Sprint: Felix Gottwald (Austria)
Speed Skating, Men's 1500 m: Enrico Fabris (Italy)
