The exhibition presents rare photos, samples of needlework made by Sofya Andreyevna, her paraphernalia, and manuscripts of compositions.

Sofia Andreyevna Tolstaya was an extraordinary personality with strong independent character, enormous vital energy, outstanding diligence, and versatile artistic talents.

Sofia Tolstaya gave birth to 13 children of Leo Tolstoy and lived to see the birth of 31 grandchildren sons and 1 great-grandson.

She dedicated her life to serving her near and dear ones: she managed to combine caring about her husband and children, household work, fancywork, gardening, translating from foreign languages, which she knew very well, and many other things.

She was gifted with lots of talents and was fond of music, painting, photography and theater. Sofia Andreyevna also wrote stories, verses, short stories for children, memoir sketches, and kept diaries.
