Museum of Political Repressions will be opened in a 50-meter water tower in Inta of the Komi Republic.
The opening of the historical museum is planned to be timed to the Birthday of Inta City on October 4, the director of the Inta Museum of Local Lore Yana Rumyantseva reported.
“The water tower is the coeval of the city. It was under construction in 1953-1954, when Inta was part of the GULAG system. It was designed and constructed by means of the victims of political repression kept in Inta labor camps. We want to open the Museum of Political Repressions History in memory of those who built the tower and created our city” - she explained.
