"The Scientific Research and Design Institute of the General Plan of Moscow" State Unitary Enterprise has developed a concept for the Yauza River development. The project was named "Yauza, the cultural axis of Moscow". Yaroslav Kovalchuk, the head of Architectural and Planning workshop of SRDI of the General Plan of Moscow informed about this at the scientific-practical conference, the "Moskva" Agency reports.
Following the concept, the river area will be transformed into Moscow’s socio-cultural area, which will create the axis from capital's South-West to the North-East. According to Mr. Kovalchuk, Yauza industrial area has a great potential for new construction and the creation of modern architecture. Thus, the owners of "Pluton" and "Crystal" factories, as well as of "Mosgaz" and "Mosgortrans" are already considering the possibility of transformation of their industrial areas. It is assumed that in the Yauza coastal areas, there will be organized pedestrian zones, new public spaces and bridges will be built. "Construction of the new social, cultural, entertainment and office buildings on the sites adjacent to the river will attract new labor force," Yaroslav Kovalchuk added.
