Altay tourist industry and regional authorities apply an effort to regain the tourists. To remind that in June, local entrepreneurs and operators suffered serious losses related to the consequences of the unprecedented floods. The main task for them now is to restore the reputation of the sector as soon as possible, persuading agents and tourists that it is still safe to go for vacation to Altai.
Last weekend, the tourist center of the Altai Krai organized a press tour in the Altaysky District. The journalists from Siberian Regions had a chance to get convinced that everything works normally, sightseeing tours are available, tourists are welcomed as never before. "The losses for those days, when tourists did not visit us will never be compensated, feels sorry Natalia Gordeeva, the president of the Altai Regional Tourism Association (ARTA) and the director of the Barnaul-based "Altayturist" company. – But returning to the last year's workload in July and August is feasible, I think. In our region, prior to the season have opened new hotels, many already operating facilities have increased the number of rooms." The prices in most tourist centers have not changed for the last 3-4 years, despite inflation and increased expenses. Approximately one third of all facilities, according to the regional tourist industry representatives, reduced prices by 5-10% and in some cases even up to 50%.
