Colossal archeological excavations are carried out in the center of Samara. 

      Historical research has been going on there for two years. At first the scientists fixed location of the probable bedding of artifacts of the old city of the 18th - first half of the 19th centuries. Then it was established that the unique historical object - a fortress of the early 18th century - lay under the cultural layer of the last one and a half centuries. Excavation works carried since the last year made it possible for scientists to dig out fragments of the fortress built in the epoch of Peter I and some buildings in its territory.
