The chief state inspector of EMERCOM small craft inspection Sergey Kaplin rescued a girl who was drowning in the Tura River in Tyumen.
The incident happened near Vlyublennykh Bridge. The eyewitnesses at once reported about it to the rescue service - none of them was prepared to save the girl from drowning.
“In the afternoon we were working on a technical section on the river, - Sergey Kaplin told. - I was waiting for my colleagues. Suddenly we got a call from the duty shift: a girl fell down to the river from embankment. I immediately rushed to my personal watercraft and arrived at the site in a few minutes. The girl got hold of a pipe that goes along the embankment lower tire. I pulled the child out of water, and rescuers appeared in time, put her in their boat and brought to the life-boat station. The girl said that she had been playing on the parapet, when she had slipped into the water. It is good that everything turned out all right. The girl, despite the extreme experience she had had, tried to smile and showed interested in the rescuers’ work”.
