The History Museum in Moscow holds the exhibition I Want to Be a Russian Soldier.
The exhibition is timed to the 100th anniversary since the beginning of World War I (1914-1918). It presents more than 200 children's drawings of the wartime. These historical pictures were acquired by the History Museum in 1919 from the famous scientist and collector Vasily Sergeyevich Voronov (1887-1940).
The exposition falls into two big sections. The first hall contains drawings depicting numerous signs of war against the background of peaceful life. All of them were drawn from life, on the basis of real scenes and images captured by children’s attentive eyes.
The second hall is dedicated to the events that took place right on the battlefields. The exposition is supplemented with some of the objects that prompted children to create their war-time drawings.
The exhibition runs till November 10.
