Observation deck on the Sparrow Hills in Moscow was closed for repairs.
"Complete overhaul will take place as part of landscaping on the territory of "Sparrow Hills" nature reserve, the press service clarified. An updated interactive map of Moscow will be installed on the renovated observation deck. It will be made in the granite paving with special flickering LED-backlit display. When creating a project, the primary considerations were the specifics of the nature reserve: its uniqueness, fragility and high value of the natural landscape. Under the observation deck a rest area with benches and night lighting will be equipped, which will allow all Moscow residents and visitors to enjoy the views of Moscow. All work will be completed this fall.
The observation deck on the Sparrow Hills was developed in 1953 together with the construction of the Moscow State University building. Its height above the Moskva River level is 80 meters. There opens a beautiful view of the entire capital: in the center one can see Luzhniki Sports Arena; on the left the Moscow-City Business Complex, the bell tower of the Novodevichy Monastery and Ostankino Tower; on the right the building of the Academy of Sciences is clearly visible, as well as the Metro Bridge and Shukhov Tower. Besides Sparrow Hills, among Moscow's most popular viewing decks are the platforms at RAS, on high-rise buildings and on the Ostankino Tower.
