The National Animation Award has been established in Russia.

      It will be given annually for achievements in the field of animated films and professional contribution into development of animation.

      The award was initiated by the organizing committee of the Open Russian Animated Film Festival. The representative of the organizing committee has reported that the first award ceremony will take place in Moscow on April 8, 2015. Cofounders are the Russian Cinematographers Union and the Animation Film Association.

      The awards will be given in 14 nominations, such as The Film, The Series, The Film Director, The Artist, The Screenwriter, The Animator, The Composer, The Sound Producer, The Producer, The Film in Distribution, The Actor, The Character, The Master and The Event.

      The award winners will be selected by the judging panel consisting of experts in animated film. It will include 35 film directors, producers, art directors, animators, film critics, screenwriters and composers. They will be elected with an open vote to go on till October 15, 2014.
