Multiple Media Activity Leads To Cognitive And Emotional Problems

Simultaneous use of a laptop, a mobile phone and other devices is bad for the brain. In this case the density of gray matter in certain areas of the brain – neurons - decreases, as the scientists write in the ‘Plos One’ journal.

It was previously proven that multiple media activity leads to cognitive and emotional problems, including depression and anxiety. But a causal relationship between these events was not conclusively established. Now a long-term study showed that people who frequently work with several gadgets at the same time have a lower density of neurons in the anterior cingulate cortex. This area of the brain is involved in the control of cognitive and emotional functions.
