A project “City Wi-Fi” was presented in Moscow. The project involves the construction of the Moscow city-wide Wi-Fi network providing the basis for free access to socially significant information resources.

The project will be implemented in several stages by the State Unitary Enterprise “Russian Broadcasting and Alert Networks” over the years 2016-2021. It is planned to deploy 3,840 access points in the Central Rayon of Moscow during the first stage until January 1, 2016. By 2021 the number of subscribers is expected to reach 1 249 thousand, according to the forecast of the company. There are already a number of free city networks working in Moscow: city Wi-Fi of “Beeline” company, subway Wi-Fi of “Maxima Telecom” and free Wi-Fi in parks and public areas of the Information Technology Department of the city of Moscow.
