Mysterious cult constructions of the 10th – 12th centuries have been found on one of the islands of the Novosibirsk water reservoir.
They were discovered by an expedition of the Archeology and Ethnography Institute of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The scientists assume that these might be medieval soil tombs with a ring-shaped ditch never found before.
The Novosibirsk water reservoir harbors a set of small islands: these are upland areas of flooded villages and part of the city of Berdsk. As a result of flooding 72 unexplored archaeological objects were lost in 1959.
