Exhibition Contemplation to the World by Vera Pestel

The Open Club Gallery in Moscow has opened the exhibition of the renowned avant-garde artist Vera Pestel (1887-1952).

      Her graphic art works of different years from the collection of A. Zlobovsky makes it possible to understand Vera Pestel’s art perhaps even better than her paintings scattered around Russia in formidable museum collections.

      The “fast drawing” tradition so popular among artists of the first half of the 20th century helped her build up her relationship with the real world, and find stability, without which she just could not survive, probably.

      Vera Pestel is a well-known avant-garde painter, teacher, and supporter of free education. In the 1920s-30s she taught at the Children's Creativity school founded by A.V. Bakushinsky in Moscow.

      The exhibition runs till October 21.
