More Gonets Satellites To Be Launched

Three low Earth-orbiting satellites of “Gonets” (“The Messenger”) communication systems will be launched in early 2015, as the deputy designer general of “Information Satellite Systems” Yuri Vygonsky reported. ISS is the leading Russian manufacturer of spacecrafts.

“There are seven spacecrafts of the “Gonets” system on the orbit at the moment. Three more are still on the Earth, the satellites are manufactured and delivered to the customer, they wait for the readiness of launch vehicles. The launch of these satellites is scheduled for early 2015” - Vygonsky told to the reporters on Wednesday.

The “Gonets” system is intended for provision of personal communications and transfer of data of various types, including coordinates and time data of GLONASS. The communication is carried out by the groups of low-flying spacecrafts launched at an altitude of 1,400 kilometers. The services based on the “Gonets” system solve the problems of monitoring of various infrastructures, transfering coordinates and time data obtained from GLONASS from moving objects to various control centres and monitoring centres, as well as personal communications in remote areas.
