Unique Historical Monument Plundered by Black Diggers in Chelyabinsk Region

The unique Uyelgi burial ground in the Kunashak District of the Chelyabinsk Region has been damaged by black diggers.

Plunder of the burial ground was revealed by staff of the Centre for Cultural Heritage Protection of the Chelyabinsk Region in the course of standard monitoring of archeology monument. The destructive excavations are enormous: the pits are up to three meters long and broad.

The black diggers took the most valuable finds away and cast away the bones. As a result, a considerable part of the barrow has been destroyed, and the most valuable information that dates the material has been lost.
