Researchers from Tomsk Polytechnic University have designed a new device for water purification, which is aimed at helping Yakutia to get more potable water.
The device will make water more pure without using any chemical reagents, like chlorine. Technologies involved include ozone treatment, aeration and filtering. The device doesn't require any expendables, and alumina silicate-based filters need changing only once in 5-7 years.
The filter is designed for providing potable water for 100 people and is quite energy-efficient. Researchers are currently adapting filter characteristics to fit water of the river Lena, which is the main source of water for Yakutian people.
