Drug for Heart Diagnostics Developed

Young scientists from Tomsk Polytechnical University have developed a radio-pharmaceutical, which helps estimating viability of the cardiac muscle.

      Scientists have anchored isotope I-123 to phenyl-methyl-pentadecanoic acid, which after introduction to the organism is processed by the muscle, and the isotope is accumulated and gives information for further studies tomography and scanning.

      When the acid is processed by the muscle, its cells are alive and there is the possibility for stenting.
