Unique Pagan Stone Found in Tver Region

Local historian Alexander Volnukhin has found a unique artifact in the woods near Ryasnya Village in the Tver Region

The find is a large stone with a deep square “bowl” hollowed out. The object has smaller holes too, as well as visible fragments of some ancient ornament. The stone was most probably used in pagan rituals.

Alexander Volnukhin noticed the artifact back in the late 1990s, but did not pay special attention to it. Besides, the locals say about two more similar stones present in the neighborhoods.

On the face of it, such artifacts are characteristic of the area of the modern Baltic and date back to the 2nd millennium B.C.
