The All-Russian Museum of Folk Arts and Crafts opens the exhibition Imost Kholuy.
The exhibition is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the famous Kholuy lacquered miniature painting.
The settlement of Kholuy is one of the ancient icon-painting centers of Vladimir and Suzdal area.
It is the first large scale exhibition of the Kholuy lacquer miniature in this museum. It presents 300 exhibits altogether.
The exposition introduces viewers to the sources of Kholuy lacquer miniature: icons of the 19th - early 20th centuries, unique works by founders of lacquer miniature, who were former icon painters aspiring to create their own style. The visitors will see all stages of development of the Kholuy miniature, as well as modern works by gifted artists. A special section is dedicated to the modern Kholuy icon painting.
The exhibition runs from November 12 till December 7.
